Technical Sales Specialist - Battery & Power Electronics
AVL is looking for an engineer to join AVL Test Systems, Inc. in Plymouth, MI as Technical Sales Specialist (TSS) with a focus on power electronics. The TSS role is similar to a Product Specialist position; technically supporting AVL customers in solving problems and helping to create/develop solutions. The variety of customers ranges from start-ups to OEMs.
The TSS position at AVL Test Systems, Inc. fulfills a vital role within the company by determining customer needs for product instrumentation and services and translating these needs into cost effective technical solutions. This position is ideal for the engineer with experiences with xEV battery and/or eDrive systems development. In addition, candidates in consideration should be extroverted and enjoy frequent interaction with internal team members and external customers. The TSS will have the opportunity to accelerate AVL's growth and expansion into the electrification segment with a wide range of proven products. This will be a great opportunity for someone who wants to broaden their technical horizons and learn more about how businesses operate on a day-to-day basis, as well as exposure business development and customer interfacing. Success in this position could provide a career path into product management, management, or sales.

Roles:
- Drives the development of complex system solutions to meet demanding customer requirements
- Works with the AVL Account Manager to develop sales and achieve business targets and goals
- Scopes customers‘ requirements and conducts product demonstrations
- Responsible for the complete technical solution of customer quotations
- Interacts with Product Management for product development and market launches
- Provides market feedback for future product development and innovative approaches
- Stays abreast of development activities in the industry and creates/implements corresponding action plans
- Works with Business Development to create strategic plans and product enhancements
- Develops and maintains customer relationships
Qualifications:
- BS in engineering required, MS preferred
- Strong fundamental knowledge in battery systems / power electronics testing and development
- Demonstrated experience with testing, developing, and validating electric powertrains
- Demonstrated experience with AVL related products preferred
- Ability to multi-task and manage projects/assignments while under time restrictions
- Flexible and adaptable in a dynamic and fast paced work environment
- Travel approximately 10 – 25% to meet the needs of customers / minimal overseas travel required
