Simulation Support Engineer I

MTI is looking for a new team member to join our AST team in Plymouth, MI. Advanced Simulation Technologies (AST) provides a set of comprehensive simulation tools in a flexible and open environment, which helps to obtain multi-disciplinary solutions as an integral part of customer specific powertrain development processes. Physical simulation models embedded in application specific simulation methods enable virtual prototyping on component and system level for the most efficient combination of simulation, design and testing. This position will provide internal and customer support for the AST portfolio of simulation products. The Simulation Support Engineer I position is an entry level opportunity requiring a degree in engineering, strong written and verbal communication skills, and simulation understanding, preferably experience. This opportunity will place an individual in a positive, close knit team environment locally in Plymouth, MI.

- Assist existing customers on operation and use of AST software
- Technical sales support of customers including model setup, execution and analysis
- Evaluation of customer requirements including estimation of scope
- Organize local and customer-site training courses
- Maintain and update training material and handouts
- Reporting and communication of customer feedback to appropriate local and Graz AST staff
- Works primarily under supervision of senior support staff
- Explore software functions proactively when support load permits
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- 2+ years of experience in simulation / analysis / math-based simulation tools
- Strong background in powertrain and vehicle component modeling and design optimization
- Positive, customer-focused attitude
- Understanding of vehicle systems, including advanced technologies
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
