Service Technician
AVL is looking for a Service Technician I to join the team in Plymouth, Michigan.
This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for individuals looking to grow and develop within a dynamic team environment. The Service Technician I will receive training on all AVL systems and provide support across a range of functions, including repairs, calibration, maintenance, and data entry.
Qualified candidates should have strong communication skills, foundational knowledge of electrical and mechanical repair, and preferably some experience in the automotive industry. Experience with emissions testing is required. Success in this role will depend on a proactive, positive attitude, attention to detail, and a strong willingness to learn.
As part of a collaborative and fast-paced team, the ability to work effectively with others and thrive in a team-oriented environment is essential.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Employer will not sponsor an applicant for a work visa for this position.
ROLES:
- Calibrate, perform preventative and corrective maintenance of AVL equipment.
- Able to wire control devices and verify operation.
- Assists in the evaluation and repair of AVL equipment.
- Assists in test equipment installation, configuration, maintenance and calibration.
- Actively participate in developing one’s own training plan and exhibit ownership in completing training.
- Provide feedback of troubleshooting guides and continuous improvement methods to increase operating equipment effectiveness (O.E.E.).
- Record and document calibrations, diagnostic and performance test results, records maintenance activities, and documents while accurately maintaining shift logs.
- Professional and timely submittal of timesheets, calibration reports, and other administrative responsibilities.
- Complete all applicable safety training.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- 2 years' Technical college preferred, High School diploma or equivalent
- Basic electronic or precision mechanical assembly knowledge
- Ability to read blueprints including electrical schematics
- Electrical wiring skills
- Knowledge and use of fine mechanical hand tools
- Ability to diagnose problems with simple systems
- Basic knowledge of personal computer hardware and software
- Experience test equipment preferred
