Service Engineer I

AVL is looking for a Service Engineer  I to add to the team in Plymouth, Michigan. 

 

This is a great opportunity in an entry level position to grow and develop with supporting a dynamic team.  The Service Technician I will be trained in all AVL systems and will support a variety of functions that include, repairs, calibration, data entry, maintenance, etc.  Qualified candidates for this opportunity must possess proficient communication skills, basic electrical and mechanical repair knowledge, and experience in automotive is preferred.  Experience in emissions testing and automotive is required.  In addition, a positive, proactive attitude, strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail and willingness to learn will help ensure success for this role.  As noted above, the Service Engineer will be part of a dynamic team so ability work and thrive in a team environment is required.  

 

 

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Employer will not sponsor an applicant for a work visa for this position.

 

 

Roles:

* Calibrate, perform preventative and corrective maintenance of AVL equipment.

* Able to wire control devices and verify operation.

* Assists in the evaluation and repair of AVL equipment.

* Assists in test equipment installation, configuration, maintenance and calibration. 

* Actively participate in developing one’s own training plan and exhibit ownership in completing training.

* Provide feedback of troubleshooting guides and continuous improvement methods to increase operating equipment effectiveness (O.E.E.).

* Record and document calibrations, diagnostic and performance test results, records maintenance activities, and documents while accurately maintaining shift logs.

* Professional and timely submittal of timesheets, calibration reports, and other administrative responsibilities. 

* Complete all applicable safety training.

 

 

Qualifications/Skills:

* 2 Years Technical college preferred, High School diploma or equivalent  

* Basic electronic or precision mechanical assembly knowledge

* Ability to read blueprints including electrical schematics

* Electrical wiring skills

* Knowledge and use of fine mechanical hand tools

* Ability to diagnose problems with simple systems

* Basic knowledge of personal computer hardware and software

* Experience test equipment preferred
