TSI Intern - Project Operations
AVL Test Systems, Inc. (TSI) is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Intern to join our dynamic Project Management team. This is a learning position, as well as an active contributor to AVL customer projects.
This entry-level position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and contribute to exciting customer projects. The Project Operations Intern will work closely with Project and Order Managers to ensure execution of administrative tasks and project support activities, while gaining exposure to AVL's project processes, procedures and products. This hybrid position is based in Plymouth, MI, with a mix of remote work, potential onsite customer visits and AVL office visits as needed and will report directly within the project management team.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Assist in planning, executing, and closing project tasks.
- Help prepare and maintain project documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project alignment and success.
- Perform additional tasks and support as required.
To be qualified for this position, candidates must be working towards a relevant degree, possess 1 or more past internships, and be well versed in MS office (specifically Excel, Outlook & Microsoft Project). Strong communication skills are required as this position will interface frequently with onsite personnel, in addition to internal functions such as purchasing, engineering, order fulfillment, etc. In addition, time management and organization skills are highly required to ensure success in this opportunity.
The AVL TSI team is looking to fill this opportunity immediately with estimated working hours around 40 during the summer months, dropping to 15-32 during the school year to provide flexibility with the candidates class schedule. This position is paid hourly with the eligibility to enroll in AVL's 401k.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in United States on a full-time basis. Employer will not sponsor an applicant for a work visa for this position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Help coordinate meetings, including scheduling, report preparation and maintenance, and follow-up on actions
- Support project managers to maintain data quality in AVL’s project reporting system
- Track project milestones and deliverables
- Interface with the Finance Department and support project accounting requirements
- Collect data and create internal project reports for the project team and management
- Collect standard product and project documentation to support project execution
- Support open issue management and closure
- Support additional tasks as requested by management
- All other duties as communicated
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- Currently in college working towards a Bachelor degree relevant to Engineering, Business, Project Management or related field
- High School diploma
- Desire to learn
- Willingness to start at the entry/beginning phases to learn processes and functions of the department they are assigned to
- Flexibility to work remotely and in office when needed
- Excellent organizational and record keeping skills
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Good interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Experience with MS office (specifically Excel, Outlook & Microsoft Project)
