Project Engineer - Diesel Calibration

MTI is looking for a new team member to join our Calibration team in the Plymouth, MI area. We are specifically looking for an individual experienced/knowledgeable in diesel calibration. Qualified candidates will possess a minimum of 1+ years postgraduate experience in a relevant position. MTI will provide training in AVL tools and software. The Project Engineer opportunity requires a candidate with strong communication skills as this position will directly interface with the customer and internal teams.

Skill Team Roles:
The Transmission, Electrification, and Vehicle Calibration skill team provides engine calibration expertise to projects. The specific roles of a Project Engineer in this effort include:
- Defines, plans, and performs engine, transmission and vehicle calibration and other relevant engineering project work within project team as required.
- Plans and manages engineering resources according to project requirements.
- Works on specific phases or aspects of projects such as technical studies, preparation of specifications, technical plans, engine testing, vehicle testing, data analysis and validation.
- Supports/ensures data quality and writes technical project reports.
- Reviews project for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer requirements, including opinions and interpretations.
- Coordinates activities concerned with technical development, scheduling, and resolving engineering test issues.
- Defines, executes and supports research and development activities.
- Supports, organizes, and leads customer meetings.
- Communicates test results, progress and issues as they arise to project team and customer.
- Supports customer calibration trips as required.
- Other duties as required to insure project success.
Qualifications/Skills:
Experience and Education
- 1+ years’ experience required
- Bachelors’ degree in Engineering required
- Master’s degree in Engineering preferred
A Project Engineer is expected to have demonstrated abilities in some of the following areas:
- Technical
- Identify, initiate, and support opportunities for technology development, process improvements, tool development, and knowledge capture and re-use.
- Provide effective mentorship for other departmental staff in areas of expertise
- Familiarity with regulatory and market segment requirements and end-user expectations
- Calibration and / or development experience with two or more of the following transmission types:
- Automatic Step Gear
- Dry Dual Clutch
- Wet Dual Clutch
- CVT
- Automated manual
- Independent functionality in at least three of the following areas:
- Vehicle and/or transmission calibration optimization to meet fuel economy and emissions.
- Vehicle and/or transmission development trip support for hot weather, cold weather and high altitude.
- Vehicle and/or transmission drivability calibration
- ADAS/AV vehicle calibration
- Working experience with some of the following tools:
- Etas INCA (required)
- ATI Vision
- Vector CANape, CANalyzer
- AVL Drive (required)
- AVL Cameo
- AVL Concerto
- Mototron MotoTune/MotoHawk
- Matlab (required)
- Microsoft Office (required)
- C-Code Programming
- GM / Ford / Chrysler Service Tools
