Facility Services Technician

AVL North America is searching for a Facility Services Technician to join the team in Plymouth, MI.  This role will primarily work onsite in Plymouth, MI with additional work or trips to our Ann Arbor facility as required.  This is a full-time, direct position working Monday - Friday, from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm.  The Facility Services Technician reports directly to the EHS & Facilities Manager. 

The Facility Services Technician performs general maintenance duties in maintaining all facilities and grounds. Keeps equipment in clean, orderly and functional condition. Aids staff, visitors and other employees as necessary.  In addition, qualified candidates will have a minimum of 3 years relevant experience in maintenance.  Experience and basic knowledge of electrical systems and controls are required.  Individuals need to be able to troubleshoot through electrical issues, such as checking voltages and changing breakers when required.  Considerable candidates will be self-sufficient, requiring minimal instruction and direction from management.  They will be task oriented and able to utilize resources/personnel connection beyond their direct supervisor to work through tasks/projects.  Strong communication skills and attention to detail are required.

Roles:

• Uses hand tools and power tools in making maintenance repairs to a variety of equipment.
• Maintain grounds and walk ways in a safe manner all year round, with special emphasis during winter months.
• Checks building systems at beginning and end of shifts for proper operation.
• Diagnose mechanical issue and make repairs.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks per PM schedules.
• Utilize facility equipment & work order system to track activities.
• Schedule and oversee contractors when repairs from contractors are needed.
• Utilize AVL purchase order system when necessary.
• Makes minor carpentry, electrical, mechanical and plumbing repairs.
• Performs touch up and finish painting.
• Assists with the set up and tear down of chairs, tables and equipment for company functions when needed.
• Maintain facility services budgets to plan.
• Keeps minor inventory of popular use consumable items.
• Keeps and maintains facility tools inventory crib/box.
• Distributes received items for facilities to proper locations.
• Participates in general cleaning, and repair work.
• Read blueprints when necessary to aid with service and repair.
• Performs all additional projects as communicated. 

Qualifications/Skills:

• Associates degree or Trade Schooling preferred 
• 3-5+ years of previous facility maintenance experience
• Well organized, excellent written and oral communication skills
• Able to multi-task and work with urgency in fast paced situations
• Time management skills.
