AVL Intern - Logistics

The AVL North America Supply Chain Management department in Plymouth, MI is searching for a Logistics Intern to join the team this summer that will potentially extend to the end of 2025.  AVL is searching for motivated candidates seeking a hands-on, in-person, productive learning experience promoting growth in the logistics field.  Ideal candidates will be self-motivated, willing to ask questions and provide exceptional support to the logistics team.  In addition, AVL is looking for candidates working towards a Supply Chain bachelor’s degree or related.   

The Logistics Intern is a learning position that is flexible and able to adapt to support all needed areas of the Logistics team located onsite in Plymouth, MI.  The Intern will take on tasks as required and directed in the below areas:

- Shipping and Receiving
- Manage Tools and Calibration equipment
- Office Administrative tasks (roles and tasks within SAP)
- Pull/Move inventory
- Fill in other areas when and where needed as determined by Management

Working hours are estimated to be 5 days per week onsite at Plymouth, MI at the AVL office. The projected timeline of this internship is an immediate start, requiring full-time support through the summer months.  The internship is expected to extend through the end of 2025, requiring qualified interns to be able to continue supporting full-time or at minimally 24+ hours per week starting September. This internship has the potential to provide an additional opportunity with AVL next summer within the Supply Chain Management team in support of the purchasing department.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Employer will not sponsor an applicant for a work visa for this position.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Embrace duties and assignments as determined by management
- Shipping and Receiving
- Manage Tools and Calibration equipment
- Office Administrative tasks
- Moves materials and items from receiving dock to receiving/crib
- Interface with Customer Service, Manufacturing Scheduler, Accounting and Purchasing as needed
- All other tasks as communicated

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

•    High School diploma
•    Working toward applicable degree; preferably Supply Chain Management 
•    Excellent organizational and record keeping skills
•    Good written and oral communication skills
•    Good interpersonal and problem-solving skills
•    Excellent attention to detail
•    Desire to learn
•    Willingness to start ‘at the bottom’ to learn processes and functions the AVL company
