Sr. Service Engineer
AVL Test Systems Inc. is growing our service team and is seeking a Sr. Service Engineer to support a customer in Fond du Lac, WI. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work closely with a dedicated customer while continuing professional growth and development in emissions testing within a leading, innovative company.
The Sr. Service Engineer is responsible for delivering professional, customer-oriented services in alignment with customer requirements and CS processes. Key responsibilities include installation, commissioning, setup, configuration, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of products, systems, and software. The role also involves supporting and supervising installation of AVL equipment and maintaining measurement systems within testing facilities.
Qualified candidates should have at least 5-7+ years of relevant experience, preferably with test automation equipment and test bed operation, including hardware and software. Strong communication skills are essential to effectively support a wide range of customer interactions.
This position requires minimal travel and is primarily based onsite at a customer location in Fond du Lac, WI.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Employer will not sponsor an applicant for a work visa for this position.
Roles:
- Act as Liaison and company representative with customers
- Perform at customer site; system installation and commissioning, including software and hardware configuration, maintenance and calibration to AVL specification as defined through the AVL Qualification Initiative (QI).
- Troubleshoot and repair products and systems to AVL specifications following defined processes.
- Professional and timely completion of service and commissioning reports and other administrative responsibilities as required.
- Actively participate in developing one’s own training plan and exhibits ownership in completing training towards realization of selected diplomas and competency.
- Develop troubleshooting guides and continuous improvement methods to increase operating equipment effectiveness (O.E.E.).
- Generates calibration certificates, service reports and is responsible for evaluation of results, including opinions and interpretations
- The ability to communicate with customers in a professional way and in the ability to independently describe, categorize, analyze and solve service requests and issues
- Timely follow up on items and the ability to drive issues to closure.
- Ability to present both formal training and informal operator instruction on AVL products and test systems
- Assist in the development of Junior Service Engineers by providing technical mentorship on test cell devices and systems.
- Complete all applicable safety training
- Must be willing to travel
- Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications/Skills:
- Bachelors’ degree in engineering or equivalent
- 5-10 years’ experience in related field
- 7+ years’ experience in test automation equipment and test bed operation, including hardware and software preferred
- For required local/regional travel, the individual must have a reliable personal vehicle/transportation.
- Understanding of electrical and mechanical processes
- Knowledge of complete test cell operation and its contents
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- The ability to cope with negative feedback from customers, exhibit patience and possess excellent listening skills
