Junior/Senior Automotive Powertrain Simulation Engineer
Electrification, alternative powertrains and increasing system complexity are among the key challenges in the automotive industry. As with every new technology comes various complex engineering challenges which require strong analytical skills, solid engineering judgement and creative engineering solutions in various platforms such as simulation environments HIL & MIL & SIL.
System simulation and optimization play a critical role in the development of modern powertrains. As a powertrain simulation engineer, you will have the opportunity to work with complex automotive systems and be responsible for 1D modelling, simulation and analysis activities in areas such as complete powertrain performance, thermal management, and NVH & acoustics, supporting system optimization and concept development.
Your typical working days will have the mixture of modeling and simulation activities,
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop digital twins of future powertrain systems to analyze and optimize system performance
- Develop and/or improve powertrain systems and methodologies that can increase performance, efficiency, comfort and robustness
- Develop and implement advanced methodologies and innovative techniques to enhance process automation and improve operational efficiency
- Perform 1-dimensional simulations and post-process for one of the following systems:
- Powertrain systems
- Thermal system simulation
- Engine thermodynamics
- Engine intake and exhaust acoustics
- Reflect your system and domain knowledge with KPI and requirement generation along with test case development and analysis
- Work with AVL Global experts to keep up with latest technologies and industry trends
YOUR PROFILE:
- BSc/MSc/PhD or equivalent engineering degree in automotive, mechanical engineering, electric/electronic, controls, mechatronics, or related technical field is preferred
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in R&D and product development projects
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: 1D modelling of automotive systems, powertrain system simulation, thermal system simulation, NVH & acoustics simulation, optimization methodologies, system dynamics, data acquisition and post-processing
- Having modelling experience with at least one of the following is a must: AVL CRUISE M, GT-Suite, Matlab/Simulink
- Having programming experience in any language (Python etc.) is a plus
- Fluent speaking and excellent writing skills in English (German would be a plus)
