Automotive Thermal Systems Simulation Engineer
Electrification is very hot topic in automotive industry. As with every new technology comes with various complex engineering challenges which require strong analytical skills, solid engineering judgement and creative engineering solutions in various platforms such as simulation environments HIL & MIL & SIL. Thermal system and optimization are the biggest challenges in electrification. As a thermal system simulation engineer, you will have the opportunity to work with complex thermal systems which you will be responsible for 1D modelling of the systems, simulation of test cases, different controller algorithms for the purpose of optimization of the controller and the whole system. Your typical working days will have the mixture of modeling and simulation activities,
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop digital twins of future powertrain systems to analyze/optimize thermal system performances
- Develop or improve thermal systems that can increase efficiency
- Develop and implement advanced methodologies and innovative techniques to enhance process automation and improve operational efficiency
- Reflect your system and domain knowledge with KPI and requirement generation along with test case development and analysis
- Travel the world for environmental tests in different and exciting locations (e.g. USA, Italy, Finland, Spain).
- Work with AVL Global experts to keep up with latest technologies and industry trends
YOUR PROFILE:
- BSc/MSc/PhD or equivalent engineering degree in automotive, mechanical engineering, electric/electronic, controls, mechatronics, or related technical field is preferred
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in R&D and product development projects
- Good understanding in one or more of the following areas: thermal management systems (inc. Refrigerant systems), electrified & hybrid powertrain technologies, engine and aftertreatment systems.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: 1D Modelling of automotive systems (thermal systems is a plus), Thermal Management calibration, Optimization Methodologies, System Dynamics, Data acquisition and Post-processing with Matlab/Simulink
- Having programming experience in any language (C#, Java, Phyton etc) is a plus
- Having modelling experience with following is a plus: AVL CruiseM, GT-Power, Kuli, FlowMaster, Matlab/Simulink
- Fluent speaking and excellent writing skills in English (German, would be a plus)
