AVL UK Limited deliver high tech solutions to support the most advanced automotive, motorsport and commercial vehicle development programs. Our projects range from single system upgrades up to complete development facilities, working with automotive, formula 1, commercial vehicle and other high technology customers. Contract values range from tens of thousands of pounds to over £20 million.
General Description
To carryout calibrations, Servicing and repairs for AVL UK to include the ISO 17025 processes and consequently assist the Head of department to maintain it for the Company. Based Hartlebury Repair Centre with travel to calibration locations within AVL ITS UK & Customers when required
Main Duties, Operational Tasks and Responsibilities
- Service & Calibration of exhaust gas analysis systems both in house and on customer sites.
- Calibration of flow measurement devices including temperature and pressure transducers.
- Calibration of Engine Measurement systems.
- Calibration of gas dividers either by flow measurement or reference gas mixtures.
- Preparing calibration certificates
- Maintenance of calibration records
- Mechanical & Electrical repair work of Engine Measurement products
- Arranging shipment of calibration devices to and from AVL
- Maintain the impartiality of the laboratory and its activities.
- Calibration of automotive gas analysis equipment including pressure, temperature, flow and gas and particle analysis systems.
- The role will include the dismantling and reassembly of analysis equipment and the reverification of the system.
- Strict calibration protocols, as detailed in the Calibration Procedures Manual, are in place and must be followed.
- Some service and calibrations activities are carried out on customers sites, so a full driving license is essential.
- The role may also require the Engineer to stay away from home for short periods due to the location of customer sites
- Some training activities shall take place at our European affiliates, so the Engineer will need a current passport.
- Reporting to the Calibration Technical Manager the Engineer shall be expected to comply with all AVL policies.
- A good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is required, and basic computer literacy is essential.
- Background knowledge of physics, chemistry and maths is needed to understand the concepts and principles of the equipment being calibrated.
- Other duties shall include basic repair and fault diagnosis of small instruments, including electronical and mechanical replacement of parts.
- Support the Service Department with Customer calibration issues.
- Customer (Internal and External) Liaison for Calibration related issues.
- Maintain qualities processes within the department
- Assist with the preparation of Certificates.
Requirements of the Job
- Higher Education qualification preferred or demonstrated equivalent.
- Ability to remain impartial regardless of business pressures
- Excellent inter-personal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels.
- Previous experience with UKAS accredited Calibration Testing House.
- Experience with e-learning platforms.
- MS Office proficiency.
- Advanced organisational skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A willingness to continuously expand your own knowledge and expertise by CPD activities.
- Fluent business English and willing to travel.
- Full Driving License.
