Thesis - PEM Electrolyser 3D-Simulation 

Master Thesis

 

According to the permanently increasing demand for H2 in the green energy industry, Polymer Electrolyte Membrane fuel electrolyzer technology is gaining more and more attention. Advanced machine learning technology should be established on a parameterized CFD modeling and simulation approach to magnify the performance improvement potential based on shape and material parameter optimization. Utilizing existing CFD capabilities and features as well as automatisms from different industrial applications, a parameterized cell segment and later a full cell model should be established to feed known as well as new AI methods.

  

 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Automation of CFD Meshing on segment and full cell models
  • Automation of Simulation Setup and Postprocessing 
  • Assessment of performance and electrochemical aspects by AVL Fire-M  
  • Compiling parameter sets as basis to feed AI optimizing tools
  • Documentation of the work and presentation to the team members

 

YOUR PROFILE:

 

  • You are interested in PEM technology for FC and EC operation. 
  • You are interested in electrochemical analysis by means of numerical modelling and simulation. 
  • Basic knowledge in fluid dynamics, chemistry and 3D CFD simulation methods. (appreciated). 
  • Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or similar field
