Thesis: E-Drive Electromagnetic compatibility (Dept.: DAD)

Master Thesis

Through the shift in the automobile industry to electrified powertrains, the demand for compact, high power density electric drive (e-drive) systems is increasing. New power electronics technologies as SiC and GaN offer solutions through faster switching frequencies, but this introduces electromagnetic compatibility challenges. This thesis would focus on methodology definition of EMC analysis under different e-drive topologies with comparison to related standards as CISPR. 

TASK:

• Literature study
• E-Drive (E-machine, Inverter, battery etc.) modeling and simulation in FEM and electrical circuitry 
• Analysis of conductive and radiated EMC of components and system under different cables topologies (shielded Vs. unshielded) and grounding concepts
• Study and optimization of different EMC filters types
• Reporting and summarizing the methodology and related EMC standards 

REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience in electromagnetics and control theory
• Language: English or German
• PSIM or Simulink knowledge is appreciated
• Finite Element Software Basic Knowledge

PREFERRED FIELD OF STUDY:

• Electrical, Electronic engineering, Technical physics 

Annual Remuneration: Due to the Austrian Equal Treatment Act we are obligated to state the annual gross remuneration (full-time) for this position as a basis for negotiation: €3.300,00. We will, in any case, offer market-conforming payment taking qualifications and professional experience into account.
