Technical Sales Specialist A&D
The Technical Sales Specialist A&D (TSS) is the technical expert along the sales process within the AVL Aerospace & Defence (A&D) Business Unit, working cross-functionally across both the ITS and PTE domains. In this responsibility, the TSS provides support to the sales organization with highest technical knowledge across the A&D product, system and engineering portfolio.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Acts as technical interface along the sales process for A&D opportunities, spanning both ITS and PTE scope
- Bridges ITS instrumentation and test-system know-how with PTE engineering competencies to build integrated A&D technical solutions
- Provides technical support to the opportunity owner in driving and achieving sales targets
- Delivers product-, application-, service and system-knowhow
- Prepares presentations and conducts product demonstrations
- Communicates the technical benefits of AVL products and services to customers
- Develops and maintains customer relationships
- Responsible for the technical content and accuracy of customer quotations
- Provides market feedback for product development
- Supports Sales during commercial negotiations
- Supports Sales during handover to Order Fulfilment and to Service
- Supports Sales in utilizing customer’s applications (cross- and up-selling)
- Supports Hotline and local CS organization with technical expertise
- Collects customer satisfaction information after-sales of products
- Support the ABM in daily operations
- Supports the ABM during the product line strategy implementation
- Supports the ABM during product launch activities
- Supports the ABM during the sales forecasting process
- Support of global segment at the affiliate
- Develops application case studies, white papers and analysis of competitive products and services
- Supports Sales organization at global pricing alignments
- Supports the global segment in localization of products and services
- Supports Sales organization with competitive intelligence
- Ensures technical proposals address A&D-specific requirements (industrial security / NOSI habilitation levels, export-control and traceability constraints) in coordination with the relevant functions
YOUR PROFILE:
- Completed education (university or university of applied sciences (FH), technical university, or equivalent) with a technical focus
- At least 2 years of experience in sales-technical roles (e.g. technical sales, application engineering, pre-sales) is considered a strong advantage
- Experience in, or strong domain interest toward, the aerospace & defence sector is an advantage
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical mindset
- High degree of flexibility, particularly in managing multiple priorities and frequent travel
- Strong communication skills, able to interact effectively with customers and internal teams
- Proven ability to work successfully in a team-oriented, international environment
- High willingness to travel: approximately 60% of working time spent on business trips
- Availability to complete specific technical training in Graz during the first months, as part of the onboarding and qualification process
- English and local language skills (business fluent)
- Salary range: €38,000 – €48,000 gross per year (based on experience)
