Battery Test Engineer

The main duty of the engineer is the mechanical development of the powertrain system element battery including periphery.

Responsibilities:

• Execution or support of functional and durability tests related to mechanical development of batteries and battery components on test rigs, test beds and in vehicles, with particular focus on Thermal Propagation\Thermal Runaway phenomenaes
• Preparation of tests based on AVL internal and customer-supplied test procedures
• Analysis and interpretation of test results and if necessary, recommendations for further actions to achieve the technical targets
• Preparation of test results in suitable form (charts, diagrams, …)
• Documentation of system and component failures that occur during testing
• Presentation of test results to project team and customer
• Issuing of test summaries and AVL test reports
• Provide input for upgrading existing and creation of new test procedures
• Initiation of optimization measures for the tests
• Working in internal R&D projects if required
• Graduate of Technical University or University of Applied Sciences in the field of mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, applied physics or similar
• Practical experience (holiday worker, student worker or private practice during studies)
• Experience in automotive industry as well as in development and validation of powertrain systems with focus on batteries (serial development experience is an advantage)
• Basic knowledge of project management methods

Qualification Requirements:

• Good knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Project as well as Sharepoint and SAP
• High proficiency in English
• Passion for engineering as well as technical solutions and innovation
• Self-reliant, structured and target oriented working style
• Analytical and lateral thinking
• Flexibility, team spirit and proactive attitude
• Willingness to travel
