Key Account Manager

The function of a Key Account Manager (KAM) should be established at the affiliate organizations, where significant business volume is given or can be achieved. He/she is the AVL representative in the market being a competent partner. He/she reports to the Affiliate Sales Manager (ASM).

 

The Key Account Manager maximizes the order intake with attractive corporate contribution (CC). He/she is maximizing the AVL’s market share with optimum margin in accordance with strategic direction.

 

Furthermore, it is possible to define the task sharing between KAM and Solution Engineer (SO) and/or Technical Sales Specialist (TSS) individually at each affiliate. But it has to be agreed between the affected people and has to be communicated clearly.

 

Responsibilities:

  • He she gives input to:
  • marketing goals (markets, customers, competition, business drivers).
  • strategic development of the business units.
  • product development meeting market requirements.

 

  • Provides market information for the sales forecast to the Affiliate Sales Manager (ASM) / Affiliate Managing Director (AMD).
  • Strengthens and supports the Global Account Manager (GAM) or Global Customer Coordinator (GCC).
  • KAM provides on a regular basis information to the GAM/GCC about local projects, local price. levels and local sales strategy.
  • Ensures planned order intake with attractive margins (CC).
  • Strives for customer satisfaction (customer’s advocate).
  • Represents AVL’s corporate identity in the market.

 

  • Operates actively.
  • Creates and distributes customer contact reports.
  • Responsible for maintaining CRM System (accounts, contacts, opportunities).
  • Involves PTE/AST if applicable.

 

  • Generates strategic sales plans for his market/customer (account plan).
  • Drives the pre-sales process (sales process stages “changes over time”, “recognition of needs”).
  • Applies strategic selling (opportunity management).

 

  • Leads the sales process.
  • Matches the offer (technology / price) to customer/market needs and indicates deviations.
  • Sets realistic customer expectations.

 

  • Ensures professional handover to PjM (jointly with SO or TSS).
  • He/she needs to support all commercial activities until final payment.
  • Accompanies project work during the order fulfilment process, realizes business opportunities (e.g. eSpares) out of project and out of CS issues; determines customer satisfaction.
  • Participates in “non-Sales related activities” (e.g. organizes OF-wrap up meeting with customer, conducts wrap up meeting, responsible for completion of customer satisfaction questionnaire and distribution to quality management).
