Design Engineer
AVL Italy is looking for its own staff in PTE Electrification Department - Design Team - a Mechanical Design Engineer.
Under the direction of the Design Lead Engineer, the resource oversees specific engineering projects as assigned, utilizing engineering principles and technical development of new products, product upgrades, troubleshooting and analysis, customer service/warranty issues, utilization of computer-aided drafting both individually and/or in a team, and other duties as assigned or requested.
He/she design mechanical solutions based on incoming requirements, applying the company best practices for the development, and provides 2D-3D CAD drawings/calculations/documentation as output.
Responsibilities:
• Provide 3D CAD models, assemblies and drawings with dimensioning and tolerance to ensure form, fit and function at component and system level.
• Develop and integrate CAD templates and methods into the design process.
• Customer interface on mechanical issues.
• Supplier interface on mechanical issues.
• Lead and manage mech. project team (with internal colleagues or ext. consultant), sharing activities following project time plan.
• Liaise and communicate with other colleagues, departments, customers, suppliers and other service providers.
• Ability to work in a cross functional global team.
• Demonstrate excellent level of analytical ability, communication and interpersonal skills required to build relationships with team members and customers to solve problems and resolve issues.
• Demonstrate initiative by reaching beyond assigned work to improve output and/or help others understand the technical nuances of product of expertise.
• Demonstrated technical leadership experience through product life cycle phases such as requirements definition, Design, Analysis, Build, Test, Verification and Integration.
• Well organized and capable of managing multiple assignments simultaneously.
• Excel in a fast-paced team environment and be able to collaborate with engineering, suppliers and Project teams.
• Ability to react quickly to unexpected changes and competing priorities and deliver quality results.
Profile:
• Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Mechanical, Vehicle or Mechatronic Engineering.
• At least 5 years of related experience.
• Strong knowledge of CATIA V5, with a proven track record of utilizing CATIA to deliver layouts, models, assemblies and drawings.
• Appreciated knowledge of Siemens NX and/or CREO, and PDM such as Windchill or similar.
• Tolerance analysis skills including arithmetic and statistical stack up techniques.
• Applied knowledge and application of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
• Professional use of Microsoft Office.
• Good knowledge of English (B2 min.).
Preferred
• Previous experience in automotive OEM and/or Tier 1 supplier.
• Knowledge of Automotive Parts Development and Project Phases.
• Experience in HV Electronic Devices and related design rules, guidelines and architectures.
• Prefer Powertrain and Transmission experience.
