Graduate Calibration Engineer
The Graduate Calibration Engineer will begin an initial training period within various AVL teams at different AVL facilities including Coventry and Basildon.
Following the training, the Graduate Calibration Engineer will work in an AVL team at an OEM in the Southeast of England. The primary duties will be:
- Testing, development and optimisation of customer diesel ICE powertrains and vehicles for series production
- Powertrain and vehicle optimisation to meet target criteria for engine operation and legislative emissions output
- Test preparation, planning and data analysis
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Once the training is complete the Graduate Calibration Engineer will work in a project team at an OEM, developing engines and vehicles for series production. Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Development and management of new powertrain calibrations using AVL and customer calibration tools and processes
- Plan and execute testing on engine testbeds, chassis dynamometers in environmental facilities, test track and on the road
- Develop & refine engine and vehicle test plans
- Perform data analysis and report out to customer teams and management
- Liaison and reporting to various functions within the organisation
YOUR PROFILE:
Essential:
- Degree educated in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or similar subject
- Knowledge of internal combustion engine (ICE) operation
- Proactive attitude
Preferable:
- MSc or PhD in Engineering subject
- Experience of calibration development on a test bed
- Understanding of (diesel) aftertreatment systems
- Knowledge of emissions legislation
- Industrial placement working with ICEs

Annual Remuneration: Due to UKVI compliance requirements, we are obligated to state the annual gross salary (full-time) for this position. The salary for this role is £36,000 and we will offer market-conforming remuneration taking qualifications and professional experience into account.
