AVL is searching for Powertrain Driveability Calibration Engineers to support engine and/or transmission calibration activities within an OEM milestone-driven development project.

We are currently looking for Seniors and Juniors Calibration Engineers to strengthen our drivability calibration team based in Barcelona.

The Calibration Engineer is responsible for ensuring convergence of drivability and acceleration performance targets through structured dataset development, validation activities and milestone-oriented reporting under standard and extreme operating conditions.

  

 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Develop and calibrate engine and/or gearbox functions under drivability scope.
  • Calibrate labels and maps affecting acceleration performance and startability.
  • Control calibration status, parameter updates, and development tracking.
  • Create and maintain the drivability development plan, ensuring activity completion.
  • Perform calibration activities in standard and extreme conditions (temperature, altitude, proving ground, open road).
  • Conduct concern analysis and define countermeasures.
  • Prepare technical reports and material for milestone reviews and official dataset releases.
  • Present KPI results related to acceleration performance and drivability status.
  • Coordinate technical discussions with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure proper documentation of calibration changes and development progress.

 

YOUR PROFILE:

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial, Automotive, Mechanical Engineering or similar.
  • Proven experience in calibration development: Engine calibration and/or Transmission calibration (Strong experience in at least one area required.)
  • Solid understanding of drivability and acceleration performance development.
  • Experience in calibration control, reporting, and parameter tracking.
  • Strong analytical skills and concern management capability.
  • Driving experience in proving grounds and different road environments.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
