Commissioning Engineer

AVL Test Systems Inc. is looking for a Commissioning Engineer to commission test systems and integrate subsystems to meet complex testing requirements.  In addition, the Commissioning Engineer will troubleshoot complex problems and develop solutions with appropriate input.  Qualified candidates must be able to take charge of projects once on-site and drive to completion while working with a Project Manager to manage cost and time estimates.  Qualified candidates must possess a strong work ethic with the ability to be flexible in the support of a variety of customers.  The Commissioning Engineer position has direct communication with the customer and ownership of large complex test systems, excellent customer service and communication skills.  The Commissioning Engineer position will receive sufficient training to ensure successful integration into the team - training will be done remote and onsite at our Plymouth, MI location. 

 

*Travel for the position will be approximately 20%

 

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Employer will not sponsor an applicant for a work visa for this position.

 

 

Roles:

  • Commission test measurement systems, including:

    • Check of system installation and safety chains

    • Setup and troubleshoot test and/or measurement systems

    • Implement basic controls

    • Calibration of measurement chains and verification of overall system function

    • Documentation of results and archiving (backup) of system settings

    • Obtain customer sign-off with support from Project Manager

    • Report Quality issues for future improvements (product & process)

    • Provide project engineering technical support.

 

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Associates in Science or Associates in Applied Science preferred (Engineering Technology, Automotive Testing, Electronics, Mechatronic) OR equivalent technical degree

  • One-year experience troubleshooting complex electrical or mechanical systems

  • Understanding of electrical and mechanical processes

  • Understanding of instrumentation and testing practices

  • Able to read and understand electrical and mechanical schematics and drawings

  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Thorough knowledge of PC operation, structure, MS Windows, and computer networking required

    • Help desk consultation.

    • Requires travel

    • Additional duties as required

  • Execution of tasks according to training & documents

  • Communicate with customer and create customer satisfaction.

  • Meet with project team prior and after commissioning.
